The Cahier Archive is the only photo collection covering the history of the Formula One Championship (and Sports Car Championship) to have remained in the hands of its original authors; the 15 000 pictures currently available on this website are part of a total of around 400 000 originals comprising our archive.

Two photographers have built this archive: Bernard Cahier and his son Paul-Henri, giving the collection two very different styles. Bernard was a reporter, and he had the gift to make people truly live events through his pictures. Paul-Henri on the other hand, has always leaned towards an artistic approach of photography. The common point of their photos though, is that they always go beyond the illustrative dimension.

Garage36 Goodness

Louis Soon, an active photographer for BMW.SG and all-round car enthusiast has started his own blog and the results are awesome!

In his own words, he is "just your average BMW E36 driver/owner. I don't really have my own garage, i just thought "Garage36" sounded cool...... Also, i created this blog to showcase my automotive-centric trip to JDM-land and Tokyo Auto Salon 2010! GTR's Bukit Timah Abode

Following my post on the R35 being officially brought in by Tan Chong, our good friend David from Project Race Queen has recently taken these great shots from the GTR standalone showroom in Bukit Timah.

I had the opportunity to drive the car for a bit recently. All I can say is the acceleration is out-of-this world yet when you are driving normally, its (almost) as docile as an automatic Cefiro!

No further introduction needed on the already legendary car, just enjoy the pictures.

Purveyor of Fine Car-Related Females

For loyal readers of my blog, I apologized for the lack of updates over the last week or so. Work and personal stuff have been getting a bit overwhelming.

To get posts up on a regular basis, I have been thinking of getting additional contributors for the blog who meet the following criteria

1) Knowledgeable car enthusiast
2) Loads of stuff to post
3) Different style from mine

After much persuasion, I have gotten MJ of KarPorn to come on board!

In his own words, he started KarPorn because he "get more satisfaction looking at cars then looking at scantily dress women..."

But he's into scantily dressed women too!

He continues to explain, "So in here, you will get motoring related stuff that make me HIGH. And yes, women. Not just your normal R or X rated women, but women who work closely with cars..."

You will get the idea after reading his first few posts, and I have no doubt you'll like his stuff!

My New Mechanic

Brought my car for an oil change a couple of days ago and sadly, the boss told me that my usual Malaysian mechanic has gone back home and is replaced by a new person. I guess I just have to make do...

She isn't very experienced and keeps looking over for affirmation.

Being kind-hearted, I let her practice changing my rubbers as well.

Down Under for The Hat Trick

First, its the Scotman who makes frequent trips to Japan. Then the Irish bloke who make even MORE trips to Japan. And to complete the trilogy of JDM-loving Caucasian car bloggers, we have Alexi Smith, an Aussie who in his own words, "moved from Australia to Japan to go drifting."

He added cryptically "I brought a camera and computer with me", then you realize he's a regular contributor on the Speedhunters site.

As an example of his connectivity with the JDM scene, here's an excerpt from his recent post which I really like:

"When I lived in Australia, I used to help run a drift club that put on track days about once a month. The circuit we used most of the time was no more than an hour’s drive away from most people in Sydney, yet you’d still hear the occasional whinger complain about the distance.

This S14 Silvia belongs to a girl named Michiko. She drove about 500km/310 miles from Nagoya to Utsunomiya to drift at Nikko Circuit, then drove back home the same day."

Oh, and Michiko (the one on the right) is pretty cute too.

Lastly, Alexi had this great shot of Nobuteru posing with his 180sx in a new pitch-black paintwork. Great underground JDM stuff you won't find in car magazines anytime soon.

Luck of the Irish

Introducing another blogger who visits Japan regularly, Chris Gray from Ireland.

Driving an AE86, which is a sure sign of die-hard dedication to the tuning cause, he described himself as "I guess I now live the tuning life even though I actually tried to 'avoid' it. I'm a Tuner, driver, JDM importer, photographer, writer, Tour guide haha, the list is endless!"

While the rest of us read about shops such as J's Racing and Sunline Racing, he gets to visit them and see all the cool demo cars in the flesh...

Murray hails from Scotland and he's a man of many talents - blogging, web design car tuning and of course photography, which explains this rather nice picture of a sweet Japanese girl from Tokyo Autosalon 2009. You can enjoy similar displays of his photographic talents here, here and here.

Formula Drift: Ivan Lim does us proud

So what if it's just 24th out of a field of 32?

On his debut USA appearance in Formula Drift, at Round 7 of the series at Irwindale Speedway in Los Angeles, our very own Ivan Lim is amongst names like Manubu Orido, Vaughn Gittin Jr, Ryuji Miki, Rhys Millen, Tanner Foust... Get the picture?

Ivan drifts in a S13 in the Formula Drift USA series. The S13 was built and maintained by Pac-Rim Motorsports and tuned by HKS USA. Formerly driven by experienced Formula Drift competitor Daijiro Yoshihara, the Silvia runs 420 whp courtesy of a built SR20det and HKS GT PRO 3037 blower combo, with more suspension components than you can shake a stick at...

Ivan's appearance marked Singapore’s first appearance at the highest level of professional drifting. Some of you may think that he's over there living large (cue: drifting in the day while hitting the club with hot promo girls like the one shown above) but here's a reality check from his blog excerpts:

When people ask me what i have seen in So Cal, i’ll tell them Gearheinz power and service... , Irwindale speedway and American tyre depot...

I didn’t get any practice as i went up a week before race day and had to work on the vehicle from 0700hrs till 0200hrs daily and only managed to get 3hr plus of sleep! The time difference didn’t help too and i was totally exhausted.

We should all be proud that of what Ivan is doing, putting blood, sweat and tears into pursuing his dreams and putting Singapore on the drifting world map.

Saw one of our northern brothers' FD RX7 in town a while back. Perhaps Eu Jin's friends know the owner of this car?

I don't know much about rotaries but everyone can admire the bodywork of this nicely put together white beauty.

On a related note, for those who wants to see more of FD RX7s, look no further RE-Xtreme's amazing blog. The blogger's name is Russ. He's based in Japan and goes to Tsukuba regularly to capture the track antics of RX7s. He owned a couple of awesome RX7s but currently drives a MX5. Living the dream...

So I went onto Team Top Flight's blog and found out that it consists of a bunch of fun-loving American guys from Phoenix, Arizona.
