BMW - Vision EfficientDynamics Concept

For decades, BMW has been making reduction of emissions and fuel consumption a key part of its product development strategy. BMW’s EfficientDynamics engineering philosophy is the pursuit of an enhanced athletic driving experience while simultaneously lowering consumption and emissions of each vehicle. With this in mind, BMW have unveiled the Vision concept car which is a 2+2 seater that uses full-hybrid technology. The concept vehicle takes the performance of BMW M series with a standard of fuel efficiency and emission management that exceeds even the current levels achieved by the latest small cars. The performance is not shy at all with top speed limited electronically to 155mph with 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds. With this concept car, BMW uses all its knowledge gained in motorsport to provide a look into the future of what is possible in terms of performance and design.

BMW to leave F1

FRANKFURT - BMW will pull out of Formula One at the end of 2009 after a dismal season and amid a crisis in the automotive industry, sources told Reuters on Wednesday.

Neither the German carmaker nor the team would confirm details but a news conference was called at short notice in Munich with senior executives and BMW Sauber team principal Mario Theissen.

A source close to the team said the decision was taken at a board meeting on Tuesday and reflected an increased focus on sustainability.

The carmaker has been off the pace since the start of the season after continually improving its position in the constructors' championship since its very first season as an independent team. -- REUTERS

Marmite Bimmer

This 335 is going to appear in Wheels Asia next month. I think the paintwork is a rather marmite choice - you either love it for its novelty or shudder at the sacrilege of using a supersized glitter pen to go over a Bimmer.

Nothing to fault about the clean engine bay though. Large twin intakes hinting at the twin turbos underneath.

Wheel fitment, low profile tyres and aftermarket brakes provide a visual orgy. I like.

I just need to convince myself about the paintwork that's all :)

Improving The Breed

Every enthusiast can understand this beautiful and heartfelt movie about a man and his BMW 130i. Not a single word of dialogue but the emotions get through clearly. It is about bettering yourself through improving the breed.

Sinister Five

Take an otherwise stock BMW 525 E60 and put it into the hands (or rather lens) of Julian and you get these gorgeous shots.

It's more than sufficient to let the pictures do the talking for this post.

Email him (julian@orangeinkz.com) if you want to capture your beloved ride as a timeless piece of art. Rates are very reasonable and more importantly, he's as car crazy as we are and that can only translate into magnificent pictures.

Subtle Aggressor

While the M3 has move on from inline 6s to V8s, I still like the look of the previous gen E46. It looks more subtle compared to the bulging-bonnet-here-flared-vent-there E92.

In my opinion, the ideal styling for a M3 is best personified by an athletic guy with a taekwando black belt dressed up smartly in a Hugo Boss suit. The current E92 looks like a bodybuilder trying to squeeze himself into a tuxedo. Worse still, there are already bigger bodybuilders around like the C-class V8-powered AMGs...

So when you take the E46 M3 and put on a few choice exterior pieces such as a Vorsteiner CF bonnet and front splitter, a Vorsteiner CF boot and 19" DPE wheels, the results can be very stunning.

Check out the subtle but effective Eisemann Race exhaust.

Overall, this car packs enough visual aggression to let other drivers know it's aint one to be messed around with but still fly under the authorities' radar.

Exotics at Market Street

Had a really full lunch today and decide to walk it off. Randomly walk around a multi-storey car park near my office and here's what I found:

Lime green E46 M3 with carbon fibre front splitter

Lotus Exige looking increadily small and sleek besides two econoboxes
Porsche Cayman S. The rims look tough and I don't think these are a factory option. I can't recognize them. Any idea?
I think the local Porsche dealer are having some promos on Caymans...

Maserati Coupé - loves the paintwork but the design looks dated compared to the incredibly muscular yet sensual GranTurismo.

599 GTB. It looks totally stock but I guess I can forgive the owner :P

You really gotta wonder what are the professions of these guys around my work area. Wonder if they have an opening available for me...
